Overview
MEDA-USA is a nonprofit organization founded on August 15, 1997 under United States 501(C) 3 statute. It is the Moghamo Cultural and Development Association based in the United States of America and has as its parent association (NAMOCUDA) the Moghamo Cultural and Development Association composed of Moghamoans based in Cameroon. It has a goal of bringing together Moghamoans and friends of Moghamo to help improve the lives of the Moghamo people back home in Cameroon and to create a community and a support system for each other in the Diaspora. MEDA-USA has in the past met these lofty objectives through sponsorship of various programs in Moghamo especially in the Health care and education domain, and on annual basis hold conventions in different cities in the United States to celebrate it proud heritage and raise funds to sponsor the stated projects back home. Since its inception in Washington DC in August 1997, MEDA-USA has grown to have chapters in Atlanta, Boston, California, Chicago, Cincinnati, Dallas, Houston, Minnesota and Washington, DC.

Mission Statement
MEDA-USA - A Moghamo cultural and development Association was created on the August 15, 1997 with a commitment to make use of the technical, fiscal and intellectual resources available to Moghamoans in the USA for the economic, cultural and political betterment of our predominantly impoverished people back at home in Moghamo, in the North West Province of Cameroon; to work incessantly to ensure peace, unity and progress amongst some of our feuding villages by being living examples and above all; to develop, maintain and uphold our most cherished cultural values for posterity. To this end, MEDA-USA seeks;

  • To provide assistance that improves the well-being of Moghamoans at home and in the USA.
  • To provide Moghamoans with a vehicle through which they can contribute effectively to the socio-economic, cultural and technological development of Moghamo.
  • To develop and implement an educational and cultural program for preserving the Moghamo cultural heritage.
  • To provide members with a professional, social, cultural network and forum to offer perspective, direction to economic, business, public policy, administrative, developmental issues.
  • To foster a Moghamo spirit of solidarity, tolerance, respect and understanding of each other and a sense of responsibility among Moghamoans.
  • provide career & professional development, job placements and facilitation for newest Moghamo immigrants to the USA.
  • Identify programs which excite the youth and encourage their participation in national conventions and chapter activities.
  • To promote the welfare, the socio-economic development and progress of Moghamoans in the United States of America.
  • To maintain continual contact and association between MEDA USA and other Moghamo Cultural and Development Associations.
  • To create a forum where Moghamoans and friends of Moghamo can come together and get acquainted.

Association History                                                                     
Founded in August 1997 by Moghmoans resident in the USA, MEDA-USA a Moghamo Cultural and Development Association has since grown to have branches in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Cincinnati, California, Dallas, Houston, Minnesota and Washington DC.                                                                                                                                                        Moghamo refers to a collectivity of twenty-two villages geographically located within in the administrative sub-division of Batibo, Momo Division in the North-Western Province of Cameroon.Moghamo, made up of essentially people of the widikum tribe span some twenty-two villages namely: Ambo, Angie, Anong, Ashong, Batibo, Bessi, Bessom, Efah, Enwen, Enyoh, Ewai, Guzang, Kugwe, Kurabei, Kuruku, Mbengok, Mbunjei, Ngyen-Muwa, Numben, Nyenjei, Oshum, and Tiben in the North West Province of Cameroon.
