What is the Moghamo Language Project About?
The Moghamo language Committee based at home in Batibo Subdivision, had been making
tremendous efforts to have the Moghamo language developed just like many others in Cameroon (Kom, Lamso, Bafut etc...). The Language of a people is and has always remained one of the most distinguishing
identification marks of such people. For a people to have their language in written form is not only an indication of the maturity of such people but also that of ingenuity. This always calls for huge joy. The
Moghamo Language Committee (MOLCOM) has the joy to inform you, on behalf of all the people of Moghamo at home and abroad that Moghamo Language
can now be written. After more than three years of tedious research work, the above committee has come with Alphabet approved by SIL-Cameroon (Summer Institute of Linguistics – an international linguistic
organization) working collaboration with the Cameroon Ministry of Scientific Research and Innovation
The Committee has produced interesting material on the language using the approved Alphabet. All these
are pending publication due to lack of funds. This language development project started in 2004. So far, the Batibo Council has been the sole crippling sponsor. People from Moghamo have been
participating in language developing training courses organized by SIL-Cameroon thanks to the lone and merger support from Batibo Council. We wish to start now by publishing all the approved materials that
are still in manuscript form.
These include the following Reference materials to be published.
-Moghamo Alphabet chart,
-Moghamo Alphabet book
-Moghamo-English, English-Moghamo lexicon (Dictionary)
-Moghamo Orthography Statement. (Writing Principles)
-Moghamo Language diary 2008 (including names of days, months, national anthem and the Lord's Prayer
in the Moghamo language. Names of all 22 villages and their Fons and many other interesting things)

A lot more details can be gotten if you read all of the attachment. It is a project worth
supporting. I suggest that we include this project on top of our Christmas shopping list. All the best.
